Farm work

So what has happened in the last few days? The last night in Sydney I spent at the NSW wine festival. We were poor enough not to buy any wine or food at the festival so we went to the bottle shop to get our own two bottles of wine and some snacks. The festival finished at 10pm on the Friday, it was too early to go to bed so we walked over to Kings Cross (similar to Temple Bar in Dublin... PS I prefer Temple Bar!) and had a stroll past the fancy and not so fancy bars.

The following Saturday we took a train to Newcastle to stay there for a few days with Nico's relatives (free accommodation). The distance was 140km but the train took 2 hrs 45 mins to get to destination. Very slow. After a few days here we were in between getting an office job or going for an adventure in the farm.
Looks like we are going ahead with the farm adventure as we got an opportunity for work 300km North of Melbourne just on NSW and VIC border. The journey is about 850km. Not sure what the hell we got ourselves into but well worth trying. The accommodation will cost us 25 AUD per night and may be a farm stay and very basic.
All farm work generally requires that you have your own transport ie are able to drive from the accommodation point to an assigned farm for the day or week or month. Generally there seem to be agencies operating between farms and backpackers. Yesterday we spoke with another "agency" who wanted us to go over on Friday and start work on Tuesday paying 135 AUD for accommodation per week. To save money we asked if we could go on Monday to start working on Tuesday and we were told we were not required any longer. I guess that was not a real farm work "agency". They were more after the money from accommodation than anything else. Besides.... the woman spoke worse English than a beginner!
Today we got ourselves a bird. It fills its engine with 4 liters of petrol but flies very smooth for its age! Here are the pictures of the amazing Falcon 1996 :) The last pictures are the house we're staying in and the two cute dogs that entertain us daily!
Not sure when I will be back online to update the status but will try to find Internet somewhere in the middle of the continent!
